Privacy Policy

BeatSync for YouTube ("BeatSync", "we") is a free Chrome extension with an optional account and paid cloud sync, plus this website. You can use the extension without an account: everything — tempo maps, sections, folders, WAV export — works locally in your browser, and nothing is sent to us. This policy describes what we collect when you choose to sign in.
What we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google or Kakao we receive your name, email address, and profile image from that provider, and we store the OAuth tokens needed to keep you signed in. We never see or store your Google/Kakao password.
- Subscription and payment records. If you subscribe, Toss Payments processes the transaction. We store the order ID, amount, status, and approval time, plus your subscription state (active, cancellation scheduled, end date). We never receive or store card or bank account numbers.
- Your practice library. While signed in with an active subscription, the extension syncs the videos you have set a tempo for: the YouTube video ID, its title and channel name, your tempo map (BPM, time signatures, sections, labels, timing offsets), and the folders you organize them into.
- Share links. When you create a share link, the shared tempo map (or folder of them) is stored on our server so the link can stay short. Anyone who has the link can open that shared content — treat a share link as public.
- Operational records. Short-lived one-time codes used to connect the extension to your account, and per-account counters used to rate-limit requests.
What we do not collect
We do not collect passwords, audio or video content, your YouTube viewing or search history, or anything at all from signed-out use of the extension. We do not use analytics or advertising trackers on this site.
How we use it
Only to run the service: to sign you in, to determine whether your subscription is active, to store and return your synced library, to serve share links you created, and to keep the service available by limiting abusive request volume. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
Service providers
- Google / Kakao — sign-in (OAuth), governed by their own privacy policies.
- Toss Payments — payment processing; card and bank details are handled entirely on their side.
- Vercel — hosting for this website and its server functions.
- Neon — database hosting for the records described above.
Retention and deletion
We keep your account and synced library while your account exists. When you delete your account we mark it as deleted and sign you out of every device immediately; your synced data is no longer accessible through any part of the service. We retain payment records for the period required for accounting and dispute handling. You can request access to or permanent erasure of your data at any time by emailing us.
Children's privacy
This service is not directed at children under 14, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the account features after a change means you accept the update.
